VANCOUVER January 4th, 2017 — engageQ digital inc., a leading digital marketing firm with clients like the Grey Cup, Oakridge Centre, and Mountain Equipment Coop, announced it has taken an equity position in Inbound Retargeting Technologies Inc.
Inbound, doing business as RetargetLinks.com, is the world’s top provider of link-based digital retargeting advertising. Its unique technology allows marketers to “tag” anyone that clicks on links and begin displaying banner ads to those people. Unlike traditional site retargeting, which requires the audience to visit the brand’s web site, Inbound’s technology places people into reachable audience groups when they click any link —on social media, in an email newsletter, inside a direct email, on a blog post, etc — regardless of the link’s URL or destination. This enables brands to share the most relevant third-party content without losing the ability to remarket their brand to that engaged audience.
“Retargeting is one of the most powerful tools in the digital marketer’s arsenal,” explained engageQ president Tod Maffin. “With a single click, brands can reach precisely targeted audiences at a fraction of the cost of awareness campaigns. We’ve been using the service for a while and were so impressed by the results we were getting for clients, we decided we needed to invest directly in the space.”

“Having Tod and the engageQ team on board is a huge asset for us,” said Inbound CEO and co-founder Serge Salager. “Their in-depth understanding of results-based social advertising, and in-the-trenches experience, will help us grow the product into an even stronger performing tool for our customers.”
“As we close our seed round, engageQ joins US-based 500 Startups, Tony Hsieh’s Vegas Techfund, Seraph Group and Vancouver investors Lance Tracey, Jim Fletcher, James Topham, Joan Plensa, Hein Brand on our cap table” further stated Mr. Salager.
Inbound’s customer base includes Uber, Staples, Freshbooks, Mountain Equipment Corporation, Intercontinental Hotels Group (Holiday Inn, Crown Plaza), Paladin Movies, Shopify, Speakeasy, TopTal, Forecastly, Fresh Grade, and Elastic Path.
Earlier this year, Inbound acquired Primeloop, a 500 startups company that held the IP for link retargeting. Inbound now holds the patents applications for this revolutionary brand new advertising technology. (US/PTO 62/219033)
Tod Maffin will join Inbound’s board of advisors as part of the transaction. The deal terms were not disclosed.
